It's Tulipalooza time!
Join Sasha Bruce supporters in planting thousands of tulip bulbs on the grounds of Bruce House so that the children living there will have a bright and colorful spring.
The day will kick off with gardening and landscaping tasks alongside the interns of the Bruce Farm program.
And then, stay for a SUPPORTER APPRECIATION SOCIAL with live music, delicious complimentary food, and socializing with fellow Sasha Bruce community members. Volunteering is not required to attend the social.
You are invited to attend one or both components of this event.
SASHA BRUCE HOUSE is the District's only emergency home for unhoused and runaway youth. It is open 24 hours a day, and any youth can be driven to the house from any safe place (identified by yellow triangles around the city) or by calling our emergency hotline. At Bruce House, youth can stay with us for up to 90 days while we work to reunite them with family or another stable environment.
BRUCE FARM URBAN AGRICULTURAL TRAINING INIATIVE is a partnership with Guerilla Garden. It serves unhoused and unstably housed youth by providing a broad knowledge base and practical experience in landscaping and horticulture. It also facilitates participants' soft skills development and entry into the workforce or careers in these fields.
Need to know
If you are volunteering to help with gardening, come prepared for sun and dirt. Be sure to bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen. The social afterward will be outside, and you should dress casually. Food will be provided during the social.
